
Mission Statement:
The Lower Columbia Youth Football and Cheer (Longview Cobras) is a community based, non-profit organization that offers instructional cheer and football programs for youth. Our programs’ focus is teaching good sportsmanship, leadership skills, teamwork, determination, discipline as well as the fundamentals of Football and Cheer.
LCYF/ LCYC strives for provide equal opportunities for ALL its participants; to develop their skills and abilities to strengthen their impact and support of their teams and community; and to grow and mature as student athletes and young adults.

About the League
Lower Columbia Youth Football League (LCYF) is home to Cowlitz County’s most established and respected youth football organizations. With years of experience, the LCYF organizations continue to provide a safe and competitive football environment to children in Lower Columbia River area.
Our divisions consist of the following age groups:
- Flag Football | Kindergarten & Grades 1-2
- JV (Junior Varsity) Tackle Football | Grades 3-4
- Varsity Tackle Football | Grades 5-6
- JV Cheer | Grades 1-4
- Varsity Cheer | Grades 5-8
All of our divisions play a 6 to 8 game schedule. There are also no minimum play requirements.

- LCYF is the longest running, most established youth football program in our area.
- Our age and grade divisions ensure a safer environment for all players. Age and maturity are bigger factors to safety than a player’s weight.
- Our coaches complete training through USA Football, and hold certification in Heads Up Tackling, concussion protocols, and sudden cardiac arrest, with comprehensive background checks completed to prioritize the safety and well-being of our players.
- All games officiated by Certified Football Officials. These are the same officials that officiate the High School games.
- All games are played by Approved League Rules.
- Our games are played in local High School Stadiums.
- All games played on Saturday, locally within Cowlitz County, Wahkiakum County, and Clark County.
- ALL safety equipment is provided.
- Limited maximum & minimum player weight restrictions, ALL REGISTERED PLAYERS WILL PLAY. Everyone is WELCOME to play.
- Weight related rules:
- All ball carriers in the Varsity Division must weigh under 130lbs.
- All ball carriers in the Junior Varsity Division must weigh under 100lbs.
